The Faces of Beijing

From kites to small children waving the flag, we were lucky enough to catch a small glimpse of the people of Beijing. In shops, markets, even in the alleys a stone's throw away from Tian'anmen we managed to capture a precious few of the millions of faces that live in this incredible city.

Two women outside a tea house in the alleys of the old district of the city, where the people, of "The People's Republic" really live.

Yvon and a vendor in the silk market. She was very excited that he handed over his "King of Kudos" pin, which she pinned to her smock.
A group of children in the same alleys chasing our Rickshaw. They appeared so happy, even though they are living in squalor, it seems to be the norm, those with the least, always seem the happiest.

A proud little boy visiting Tian'anmen Square with his family.
A shot taken with my friend the stone engraver in the outdoor merchant's market.

Busy Busy Busy...everday......
I sat back to wonder if this little girl would someday truly understand the people's revolution, and the price of progress.
