Welcome to Beijing
This is the first of many entries from our trip to Beijing, China. We will attempt to look at our time there from different perspectives. The good, the not so good, the fascinating, the inspirational. We are truly lucky to have experienced this.

The Great Wall
Not much needs to be said about this place, except that the hour we spent there was not nearly enough time. Althought the visibility was by no means great, the wintery scene is one we learned is rare. A thin layer of fresh snow made for a beautiful, serene experience. The lack of tourists made getting around easy and so enjoyable. There will be a few words added here and there throughout the photos below, but until we find the words to do this place justice, enjoy the views.
-------------------------------------------------------

Amanda is not able to keep her enthusiasm within, with our guide Nancy sitting beside her as we go up the cable car.

A short walk through many kiosks manned by aggressive saleswomen to the cable car.

And the Wall itself....

More to come....a suivre...

wow....wow....wow!! Moves me to tears to see you folks up there. What an opportunity! Nice to see that you were lucky to be able to focus on the grandness of the wall itself without too many distractions. Can't wait for the next series of pics. Keep taking such good care of each other.
much love and hugs,

What incredibly awesome pictures. I feel as if I am 'travelling" vicariously through you. Such a fantastic opportunity you both have seized and are letting the rest of us share your journey through pics and writings.
Take care, have fun. Although we miss you, we're so proud of the choices you've made and the path you are following.
Love you both. Mom K
